May 16 Bloomer Cloverbelt Conference

Success was had when Cadott headed to Bloomer, for the league championship meet, with multiple athletes achieving personal records and bringing home titles.

“It was a very good night, as the Hornets earned six individual championships and one relay championship award,” said coach Pat Rothbauer.

The girls 4x400-meter relay, consisting of junior Jaycee Stephens, and freshmen Taylor Hager, Lilly Spaeth and Iszy Sonnentag, placed first, in a time of 4:20.63.

Winning all three of her events, Sonnentag claimed first in the triple jump (35-05.25), 400-meter dash (58.73) and 100-meter hurdles (15.09).

“She improved upon her 100 hurdles school record and set a new triple jump school record in her only jump of the night,” said Rothbauer. “She was also involved in perhaps the most exciting race of the night, as she edged out Carly Borst, last season’s eighth-place finisher at the State meet.”

Also placing first for the Hornets, was freshman Haley Mathison in the shot put (30-11), who also took second in the discus throw (108-06). Stephens came away with a third place finish in the 100 hurdles (16.68) and 300-meter hurdles (49.73), while senior Lucy Lindeman was fourth in the shot put (29-09.5) and junior Emma Kowalczyk placed fifth in the 100 hurdles (17.68).

On the boys side, senior Peter Weir took first in the 400-meter hurdles (50.95) and 800-meter run (1:58.34), improving on his school record. Weir also came in second in the high jump (5-04).

Junior Wyatt Engel also finished high for the Hornets, with fourth in the triple jump (37-08.5) and fifth in the 110-meter hurdles (16.83).
