Knights gain more confidence before post-season

Just ahead of the post-season, the Cornell-Lake Holcome track team got in two final meets, both on the road.

May 9 Colfax

First up, were competitors at Colfax, with multiple first place finishes achieved, including the boys in 4x200-meter relay, with a time of 1:34.99.

Junior Trent Nitek placed highest for the Knights, taking first in the 100-meter dash (10.86) and 200-meter dash (22.26), and fifth in the long jump (18-3.25). Coming in third, were senior Avery Turany in the pole vault (11-6) and senior Blake Anders in the triple jump (38-5.5), while senior Dylan Bowe was fifth in the 300-meter hurdles (49.35).

On the girls’ side of things, junior Emma Lechleitner came in second in the 300 hurdles (47.80) and 200 dash (27.58), followed by junior Marcella Boehm in third in the 200 dash (28.43) and 100-meter hurdles (18.08). Boehm also placed fourth in the long jump (15-4.5).

May 12 New Auburn

At the end of the week, the Knights then traveled to New Auburn, with both teams earning second place. In the relay events, the boys and girls 4x200 teams took first, as did the boys 4x100-meter and 4x400-meter teams.

Coming in first individually, were Boehm, in the 100 hurdles and long jump, and Turany in the pole vault.

Placing second, were Lechleitner in the 100-meter hurdles and long jump; junior Brandon Moore in the 100 dash; junior Lauren Samardzich in the 800-meter run and triple jump; Boehm in the 200 dash; senior Harley Schroeder in the high jump; Bowe in the pole vault; Anders in the triple jump; and junior Will Peterson in the shot put event.

“This track meet was a good track meet to have before the conference track meet,” said coach Laurie Bowe. “We used it for training and working on techniques.”
