The Greenwood track and field athletes got another round of practice under their belt as they competed at the Spencer High School Brian Picket Invitational May 9, their last meet before the conference meet in Gilman a week later.

Several Greenwood athletes finished among the top eight in their events. For the boys, Rogan Travis showed his upper body strength when he won the discus throw at 126’7” and the shot put at 41’8.5”. Christian Thomas finished third in the 110m hurdles at 18.50. The boys 4x100m relay team took fifth place at 52.78. Hunter Ellis placed eighth in the long jump at 14’11”.

On the girls’ side of things, In the 1600m run, Katlund Etlicher took sixth place with a time of 7:07.99. She also took second in the 3200m run at 15:56.76. The girls 4x100m relay team took sixth place at 1:01.40. Lainy Trampush took seventh in the triple jump at 24’10”. Sarah Reiff finished fifth in the shot put, with a distance of 27’7.5”. Renaya Horvath won the wheelchair shot put with a put of 11’11.5”, more than 7 inches farther than her distance at the Stratford meet five days prior. The Greenwood boys came in seventh as a team with 31.5 points. Other team scores were: Neillsville 192.5, Abbotsford 132, Columbus Catholic 91, Spencer 63.5, Thorp 54 and Gilman 36.5. The girls for Greenwood also took seventh place. Girls team scores were: Abbotsford 166.5, Gilman 104.5, Neillsville 104.5, Columbus Catholic 59, Spencer 54, Thorp 50.5 and Greenwood 15.
