By Ginna Young

Like a broken record, weather is the biggest foe the Cornell- Lake Holcombe track team faced over the week.

May 2 Bloomer

“Last night, at Bloomer, was the most windy track meet we have ever competed in,” said coach Laurie Bowe. “With that being said, we did well.”

On the boys side of things, junior Trent Nitek earned top honors, placing first in the 100-meter dash (10.74), 200-meter dash (22.46) and long jump (20-05.25). Senior Avery Turany also did well, placing third in the pole vault (11-00).

The 4x200-meter relay team of seniors Blake Anders and Dylan Bowe, Turany and Nitek, came up with first for the Knights (1:37.6).

For the girls, junior Emma Lechleitner came in first in the 300-meter hurdles (50.46) and fifth in the 200 dash (27.90), while junior Marcella Boehm was fifth in the 100-meter hurdles (18.30).

“It was good to have some competition,” said L. Bowe. “We have some things to work on, but I am excited for the rest of the season.”
