Relay teams tearing it up for the Knights

Cornell-Lake Holcombe’s track program hasn’t had much luck, as far as the weather is concerned, but when they’re able to get out on the track, they’ve seen success.

April 25 Chetek Invitational

Heading to Chetek, the Knights saw the 4x100-meter relay team of seniors Avery Turany and Dylan Bowe, and juniors Branden Moore and Trent Nitek, set a new team record, with their first place finish, (in a time of 47.07). The 4x200-meter relay also placed first.

There were also multiple place finishes individually, including Nitek, in the 100-meter dash (10.93) and 200-meter dash (22.39), while Turany was first in the pole vault event (12-00) and Bowe was first in the 300-meter hurdles (46.99).

Finishing in second place, was senior Blake Anders in the triple jump (37-04), and he also was third in the 400-meter dash (56.20). Coming in with fourth place for the Knights, were Bowe in the pole vault (10-06); Nitek in the long jump (17.05); and senior Harley Schroeder in the triple jump (35-09).

Sophomore Hunter Anders ended in fifth in the high jump (5-02). For the girls, junior Emma Lechleitner placed first in the 100-meter hurdles (51.34) and also placed third in the 200 dash (28.17). Junior Marcella Boehm also placed high for the Knights, with second in the 100 hurdles (17.88) and third in the long jump (14-06.25).

“The weather has not been cooperating, but my athletes are working very hard,” said coach Laurie Bowe. “I am excited to see what is to come.”

April 27 Bruce Invitational

The Knights then headed to Bruce, where the boys and girls 4x200-meter relay teams both placed first, with times of 1:45.01 and 1:58.24, respectively. The 4x100 teams also came in first, with the boys ending with a time of 50.17 and the girls notching a time of 59.21.

On the individual side of things for the boys, B. Anders was first in the 400-meter dash (57.43), while Nitek got first place in the 200 dash (24.15) and D. Bowe had first in the pole vault (10-00). Placing second for the team, were Moore in the 100 dash (12.92); freshman Alex Dixon in the 800-meter run (2:47.51); B. Anders in the triple jump (35-03); junior Carter Harycki in the discus throw (85-09); and Schroeder in the high jump (5-02).

Earning third place, were freshman Logan Jaedike in the pole vault (7-00); junior Will Peterson in the shot put event (31-08); Schroeder in the triple jump (34-11); freshman Anthony Schofield in the discus (81.08) and Turany in the 200 dash (26.51). Ending with fourth place, were sophomore Jared Raatz in the 800 run (2:48.59) and H. Anders in the 200 dash (26.82), while Raatz was fifth in the 400 dash (1:08.51).

On the girls side, Lechleitner took first in the long jump (13-03.25) and 200 dash (29.25), while freshman Liv Repka placed first in the 400 dash (1:18.9). Coming up with second place for the Knights, was freshman Emma Wright in the long jump (12-05.75), with junior Haily Duffy in fourth place in the 200 dash (32.31).

“It was a very wet and rainy track meet,” said L. Bowe.
