Cadott’s baseball program got in two games over the week, splitting the matches down the middle.

April 25 vs. Stanley-Boyd conference (L 4-0)

It was off the short distance to Stanley-Boyd for a conference bout and while the game wasn’t high-scoring, the Hornets couldn’t notch any runs against their rivals.

Cadott’s bats never heated up and the Orioles ended with a 4-0 victory.

“We just couldn’t string enough hits together to get some runs,” said coach Brandon Geist. “They kept us off stride offensively and did good job of putting the pressure on us defensively, to do just enough to win the game.”

Sophomore Warren Bowe went four innings for Cadott, allowing 2 hits, 3 runs and 4 walks, while striking out 8. Junior Connor Roth then took the mound for two innings, giving up a hit, a run and a walk.

On the offensive side, Roth and junior Braden Denzine were the only Hornets to come up with a hit each.

April 27 vs. Owen-Withee non-conference (W 10-9)

The Hornets then stepped out of the league and hosted Owen-Withee, where offense was in full force for each team. It was a close affair, but in the end, Cadott pulled out the win over the Blackhawks, 10-9.

“We got the bats going and were able to score some runs,” said Geist, “and the pitchers were able to get us out of a few jams and the defense made some big plays, to help us get win No. 2 on the season.”

Freshman Aiden Rykal took the mound for four innings, giving up 3 hits, 4 runs and 2 walks, and striking out 4. Junior Henry Danielson then went two innings, allowing 2 hits, 4 runs and 4 walks, with 3 strikeouts. Junior Axel Tegels finished out the game, going one inning, giving up 1 hit and a run.

Cadott’s bats were hot that night, as Roth and Rykal each had 2 hits, and Bowe, Tegels and senior Tristan Drier all had a hit each.
