Cornell falls to Bears in their third meeting
By Ginna Young
As the No. 11 seed, Cornell’s girls basketball program hit the road to take on No. 6 Clayton, Feb. 21, for the first round of Regional action.
It was the third meeting between the two teams, with Clayton coming out on top by 12 the first game, then winning by eight near the end of the season. The Chiefs looked to even the score this time around, but it wasn’t to be, as the Bears again won by eight, with a final score of 54-46.
That ended Cornell’s playoff run and the senior season of powerhouse scorer Kelsea Popp, but hopes are high for next season, as the young team will have multiple players to turn to for leadership.
