Ending the regular season in second place in the East Lakeland Conference, the Cadott girls basketball program headed to Neillsville, for an out-of-league with Columbus Catholic match-up Feb. 18.
“This was a good game to lead us into the playoffs,” said coach Dave Hazuga.
Cadott was riding high before heading into the playoffs, taking an 11-point lead into the break, while the Dons were no match for them in the second half. The Hornets walked away with a 48-34 win, improving their overall record to 19-5 and remaining at 11-3 in the conference.
“[The] girls were excited to play after a week off,” said Hazuga.
Senior Lauryn Goettl led for Cadott, with 24 points, junior Emma Kowalczyk adding 7 and senior Elly Eiler coming up with 4 points, while seniors Morgan Moldrem and Laken Ryan, and freshman Taylor Hager all shot a three-pointer. Senior Eva Enestvedt and junior Bradee Burish each chipped in with 2 points.
“We got great contributions from everyone,” said Hazuga.
