By Ginna Young

The Cloverbelt Conference competition isn’t getting any easier as the season draws to a close, as the Cadott boys basketball squad found out.

Feb. 14 vs. Osseo-Fairchild conference (L 79-52)

Cupid’s arrow must have missed its mark when Cadott headed to Osseo-Fairchild. The opening half of the game was evenly matched and deadlocked at 31-31, going into the break.

But by the second half, the Thunder opened up their scoring, while Cadott struggled to put points on the board. As the match came to an end, Osseo took the win, 79-52.

Leading for the Hornets, was sophomore Warren Bowe, who shot five, three-pointers, finishing with 17 points. Senior Tegan Ritter also came up with a couple of threes, walking away with 11 points on the night.

Junior Jordan Peters followed that up with 6 points and junior Bradee Burish was next, with 4. Juniors Easton Goodman, Nolan Blum and Elijah Burich, and sophomore Jackson Barone each notched 3 points, with sophomore Nolan Freed adding 2.

Feb. 17 vs. Fall Creek conference (L 84-48)

A few days later, scoring was in short supply for Cadott in the first half against Fall Creek in an away match, with only 14 points to their credit. With a 26-point deficit to overcome, the Hornets stepped up the offense in the second half, almost matching the Crickets.

It wouldn’t be enough and Cadott saw Fall Creek take an 84-48 victory.

Bowe again led for Cadott, with 15 points, with Ritter behind him, with 9. Peters and Freed each notched 7 points, followed by sophomore Parker Davis, with 4. Sophomore Riley Sopiarz got on the board with 3 points, Burich added 2 and Goodman chipped in with a free throw.

The Hornets are now 6-17 on the season overall and sit at 0-14 in the league.
