Cornell can’t catch up to dominant Warriors

By Ginna Young Making the trek to Winter is never easy, and for the Cornell girls basketball team, the Jan. 13 match-up was no exception. “The girls really battled it out this week,” said coach Courtney Yanko. Despite their best efforts, the Chiefs couldn’t overpower the Warriors and watched the victory go to the home team, 63-46. Sophomore Bralee Schroeder led for Cornell, with 17 points, 7 rebounds, 6 steals and a block, with junior Lauren Samardzich following that up with 9 points, 4 rebounds, 3 steals and 3 blocks. Senior Kelsea Popp came next, with 8 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals, while junior Teryn Close added 4 points and 2 rebounds.
