Wolfpack finishes high at the Northern Badger

It’s two days every high school wrestling family looks forward to – the Northern Badger Invitational at River Falls. Among hundreds of students, the Cornell-Gilman Wolfpack took on the competition Dec. 29 and Dec. 30.
In a 45-school field, the Wolfpack had a successful time, as two of the three athletes made podium for the first time at the tournament.
Finishing in 10th place for the team, was senior Braden Person (152), who faced James Bruhn, of Phillips, in the ninth place match. Bruhn took the win by fall, in 3:50.
Sophomore Preston Fredrickson (132) also placed high, coming in 12th, after dropping the 11th place match to Freedom’s Ben Wagner, in a 4:14 fall.
To round out the scorebook, freshman Anthony Schofield (220) fell one match short of a podium finish.
“It was a great experience that should help prepare them for the busy schedule we have coming here in January,” said coach Greg Sonnentag.
