By Ginna Young

There was no rest for the Cadott boy’s basketball team, as they took part in a holiday tournament at Elmwood.

Dec. 28 vs. Ellsworth non-conference (L 51-36)

The Hornets were on the road to face off with Ellsworth, to begin the tournament. It proved a challenge for Cadott, as their offense was limited in the first half, only scoring 12 points on the Panthers.

Ellsworth took a 14-point lead into the break, but by the second half, the Hornets’ offense came to life. They came close to tying the amount the Panthers put on the scoreboard, but with the deficit from the first part of the game, the match went to Ellsworth, 51-36.

Senior Tegan Ritter led for the Hornets, with 10 points, followed by junior Jordan Peters, with 5. Sophomores Warren Bowe and Nolan Freed each added 4 points, while junior Nolan Blum and sophomore Braden Schneider each scored 3.

Dec. 29 vs. Elmwood-Plum City non-conference (L 73-62)

The next day, Cadott took on Elmwood-Plum City in the away tournament. The game was locked at 27-27 in the first half of the match-up, but coming out of halftime, the Wolves outscored the Hornets, 46-35.

Time ran out to make a comeback and the game went to the home team, 73-62.

Ritter again led for the Hornets, with 24 points, while Bowe knocked down three shots from beyond the arc, finishing with 14 points. Peters followed that up with 9 points and Blum recorded 6.
