Hornets sneak past the Crickets in buzzer-beater

By Ginna Young

Going into the match with Fall Creek, the Cadott girls basketball team knew they were in for a hard-fought game on the road Dec. 20.

It was a back-and-forth contest throughout, with the game locked at 27-27 at the break. The second half went the same way, but as time ticked off, the Crickets were up by a single point.

“It was a tough rebounding game and we need to do better,” said coach Dave Hazuga.

Cadott had one last chance to take home the win, but a missed shot seemed like the end, until senior Eva Enestvedt nabbed the offensive rebound and sank the basket to give the Hornets a 59-58 conference victory. Cadott remains undefeated at 8-0 overall, with a 4-0 league record.
