Hornets fall in games with the Blackhawks, Cardinals

By Ginna Young

The Cadott boys basketball program faced their biggest challenges yet, going up against two tough conference opponents.

Dec. 13 vs. Bloomer conference (L 52-27)

Taking on Bloomer on the Hornets’ home court, Cadott was in for a battle on the scoreboard. The offense just wasn’t there, with Cadott only putting up nine points on the board in the first half.

They did better after the break, finally breaking double digits, but were unable to hold off the Blackhawks, watching the game go to the visitors, 52-27. That made for the first loss for the Hornets on the season.

Senior Tegan Ritter ended the night with 9 points, followed by junior Jordan Peters, with 6, and junior Nolan Blum, with 4. Junior Brodee Burish, and sophomores Warren Bowe, Nolan Freed and Braden Schneinder all contributed 2 points.

Dec. 16 vs. Thorp conference (L 55-49)

A few days later, Cadott made the short trek to Thorp, for an even bigger battle. The teams were fairly evenly matched in the first half and the second half was almost a repeat.

However, the Cardinals pulled ahead just enough to reel in a 55-49 victory over the Hornets.

Bowe knocked down four shots from beyond the arc, finishing with 18 points, with Ritter behind him with 13 points. Peters came next, with 9, while Schneider had 6 and Freed recorded 3.
