Chieftains can’t capitalize on shots against Falcons

In what would end up as their only game of the week, the Lake Holcombe boys basketball team headed to Flambeau, for a conference showdown Dec. 13.
The Chieftains were outscored by double digits in the first half, but the defense kicked in after the break to limit the Falcons to only two points more than Lake Holcombe put on the board. However, with the large deficit from the opening half, the game would go to Flambeau, 72-56.
“We played hard against Flambeau, but did not rebound well offensively,” said coach Joy Webster. “We often only got one shot off, as we had just six offensive boards on the night.
Sophomore Ryley Craker led the way, with a career high 34 points, while leading with 4 steals. Senior Harley Schroeder followed that with 9 points and led the team with 6 rebounds. Sophomore Brian Strzok added 7 points, followed by junior Taye Yeager and sophomore Chase Burgess, with 3 points each.
Yeager also led the team with 4 assists.
“We continue to improve each game, but still have to finish the easy baskets in the paint,” said Webster.
