Senior Lauryn Goettl is a valuable resource on the Cadott volleyball team, which shone through Sept. 17, when she reached 1,000 digs. The milestone in her high school career came against E.C. North, in a weekend tournament on the road.
“I knew I was getting close in the previous season, but I never thought of it coming into senior season, because I was just focused on other things going into the season,” said Goettl, who didn’t know until a celebration at the next regular game, that she made the feat. “I was really in shock that it came that early, I figured it would’ve been later in my senior year, that it would happen.”
Goettl credits many coaches throughout her high school years, as helping her reach the personal record and for all the practice she puts in, in and out of the volleyball season. As a starting libero freshman, Goettl wanted to hit 1,000 digs, because it’s an amazing achievement and exciting to achieve something that seems so unrealistic.
“It’s amazing to see what your hard work pays off for in the end,” she said.
After graduating high school, Goettl plans to continue her athletic career in either basketball or volleyball. It’s no doubt she will see success in whatever path she chooses, and is grateful for every coach in every sport, for their time and dedication they’ve put into her development.
She’s also thankful for the community, for their support and to her parents, for pushing her to be the best she can be.
“My parents built me to who I am today, and I want to thank them every single day for that, for seeing the best version of me and letting it show.”
