RIB LAKE NORTHWOODS QUAD

Rib Lake couldn’t have picked a much nicer day than Friday to host its lone track and field meet of the season, the Northwoods Quad, where the Redmen placed third in the combined team totals against their northern Marawood rivals Chequamegon, Prentice and Phillips.

The deepest of the four teams, Chequamegon, outscored the other three squads with 153 points. Phillips scored 131.5 to distance itself from the Redmen (107.5) and Buccaneers (74) on a day that featured bright sunshine and temperatures well into the 60s, a rarity for the spring of 2022.

Rib Lake won 11 events in front of the home fans, including eight on the girls’ side of the meet.

Olivia Lopez won two individual events, taking the triple jump at 30 feet even and the long jump at 13 feet, 2 inches. She won both by sizable margins. Lauren Pelnis won the shot put at 30-11.25, a new personal best, beating teammates Hannah Schuh (26-10.5) and Grace Artz (24-0.25), who were second and third. Artz set a new best distance as well.
