Cancellation after cancellation takes a toll, but you wouldn’t know it with the scores posted at Cadott’s two track meets over the week.

April 28 vs. Augusta Invitational

The weather finally cooperated enough that the Cadott track program could compete, this time, at Augusta.

“It was awesome getting our first outdoor meet in,” said coach Pat Rothbauer.

Senior Kaleb Sonnentag carried off the honors of the day for the boys, finishing first in the 300-meter hurdles, with a time of 44.60. Senior Cameron Messenger also placed high, with second place in the triple jump (36-03.5); third in the 110-meter hurdles (19.12); and fourth in the 300 hurdles (49.47).

Sophomore Sage Handrick also was fourth for the 800-meter run (2:37.2), while fellow sophomore Wyatt Engel was fourth in the 110 hurdles (19.45) and fifth in the 300 hurdles. Senior Gavin Tegels was second in shot put (41-07.5) and third in the discus throw (101-00).

On the girls side, junior Julia Sedlacek came out on top in the pole vault (7-00), followed by sophomore Mckenna Harel, in fourth (5-06). Junior Lucy Lindeman ended in first place in the discus throw (93-06), with a personal best. In the 100-meter dash, senior Mallory Kyes placed second (14.81), with a personal best, while sophomore Shannon Burlum was third in the 400-meter dash (1:22.04) Harel placed fifth in the 800 run (3:07.38), with freshman Mia Weggen coming in fourth in the 1,600-meter run (6:48.93) and sophomore Emma Kowalczyk third in the 100-meter hurdles (19.00). Sedlacek was right behind in the 100 hurdles, with fourth place (20.08).

Sophomore Jaycee Stephens ended the day in third place for the 300 hurdles (56.45), followed by Kowalczyk, who was fourth (56.92), and junior Haley Larson placed fourth in the high jump (3-10). Sophomore Jayden Winchell was third in the long jump (13-07.5), with Kyes next, in fourth (13-04.25).

Kowalczyk came in second for the triple jump (29-05.75) and Stephens was fourth in that event (26-03.5). Freshman Lyla Weggen was third in the 3,200-meter run (15:22.11).

The girls team walked away with the team victory for Cadott, while also having a 4x800-meter relay win for the team of freshmen McKenna Steinke, Larson, L. Weggen and M. Weggen (12:31.61). The 4x800 boys team also took first (10:47.73), with runners freshman Ethan Kerschner, Handrick, junior Ty Rowe and junior Jacob Rowe.

“Hopefully, the weather starts to turn around and we don’t have any more meets canceled,” said Rothbauer. “Not much time left before conference and then Regionals.”

In a re-scheduled meet, Cadott acted as host to area teams and did well on their home track. Tegels set a new personal best in shot put (44-3.75), while Sonnentag claimed first in the 300 hurdles (44.26) for a personal best.

Messenger came in second in the triple jump (34-11.75), followed by Engel in third (32-7), while Sonnentag set another personal best, for the 200-meter dash (25.16). Weiss also was second for the 800 run (2:22.58) and the 1,600-meter run (5:31.5).

Coming in second in the 110 hurdles, was Messenger (18.31), followed closely by Engel for third (19.32). Weiss placed third in the 3,200 run (12:20.36), with Tegels in fourth for discus (98-11). Sonnentag also placed fourth for pole vault (8-0), while Weiss was right behind, in fifth (7-0).

Freshman Kaleb Lodahl finished in fifth place in the 400 dash (1:10.18) and J. Rowe was fifth in the long jump event (13-7.5).

The relay team of T. Rowe, J. Rowe, junior Dylan Drehmel and Tegels, came in first for the 4x100-meter event (48.52).

On the girls side, Stephens set a personal best, placing first in the 100 hurdles (18.16). Kowalczyk was right behind for second (18.90), with Sedlacek right behind her, in third (19.52). Lindeman ended in first in the 400 dash (1:13.07), while Burlum was third (1:19.03) for a personal best and Larson finished fourth (1:20.39).

Sedlacek got first in the pole vault (6-6), followed by Harel (6-0), while Lindeman was first in the discus (86-3). Sophomore Kendall Webster was next, with fifth place for discus (54-7). Senior Emily Malecki set a personal best in the shot put for second place (21-9.25), while freshman Keira Urbanek was third (19-7); freshman Molli York was fourth (19-3.75) and Burlum was fifth (18-10.75).

Kowalczyk finished the day in second in triple jump (27-1.75) and Stephens was third (25-3.75), while freshman Adrianna Goodman was second in the long jump (13-4) and Kyes finished in third (12-4). L. Weggen also placed high, for second place in the 3,200 run (15:25.78), and Kowalczyk was second in the 300 hurdles (55.46), followed by Stephens for third (56.01).

M. Weggen placed third in the 1,600 run (6:42.75), while freshman Cortney Weggen was right behind for fourth (6:44.86). Harel came in third in the 800 run (3:02.65), with L. Weggen a step behind (3:11.16) and Kyes got fourth in the 100 dash (14.54).
