Traveling for an invitational at Chetek-Weyerhaeuser, the Cornell-Lake Holcombe Knights were able to get in some time outdoors April 19.

“We finally had nice weather for a track meet,” said coach Laurie Bowe.

Bringing in third place for the Knights, was the boys team, while the girls ranked sixth out of nine teams at the meet.

On the relay side, the 4x200-meter squad of juniors Avery Turany, Dylan Bowe and Blake Anders, and sophomore Daniel Person, placed second, with a time of 1:41.02. The 4x400-meter team also came in second (3:56.9), consisting of runners, D. Bowe, Turany, Anders and junior Dawson Munson.

For the girls relay, sophomores Brooke Sime, Marcella Boehm, Lauren Samardzich and Haily Duffy earned second in the 4x200 (1:59.72), while the team of Sime, Boehm, Duffy and senior Carly Vavra, placed third in the 4x100meter relay.

Bringing in first place individually, was Anders in the 400-meter dash (56.09), followed by freshman Hunter Anders in fourth (59.76). Turany came up with a second place finish in pole vault (10-06), while D. Bowe was fifth in the event (9-00).

B. Anders was second in the triple jump (39-00), while Munson also placed high for the day, ending in third in the 110-meter hurdles (20.90) and fifth in the 300-meter hurdles (50.56).

Sophomore Emma Lechleitner carried off honors for the girls, placing first in the 300-meter hurdles (53.82).

“She had never run this race before this track meet,” said L. Bowe.

Boehm placed fourth at the meet in the long jump (14-03.5), while Vavra was fourth in the discus throw (76-01). Boehm also came in fifth in the 100-meter hurdles (20.47) and Vavra placed sixth in the triple jump (27-11).

“We had many girls and boys perform their personal bests at this track meet,” said L. Bowe.
