Hornets soar over the Blackhawks in opener

By Ginna Young

Getting out on the field for the first time this season, the Cadott softball program watched Owen-Withee come to town April 11. Cadott opened up a scoring barrage against the Blackhawks, knocking in 13 runs, while holding Owen-Withee to just three runs.

The Hornets took the game in five innings, 13-3.

Senior hurler Makenna Barone pitched three innings during the win and junior Lauryn Goettl pitched the last two.

“It was a good game to start with to try some people out in positions, since it was our first time on our field this season,” said coach Kari Moldrem.

Moldrem said junior Eva Enestvedt has made some great progress at the plate, hitting her first shot off the fence.

“We had several hitters who hit the ball really well last night.”
