Cadott’s boys basketball squad faced some stiff competition over the week, coming up with one win and one loss against the non-conference opponents.

Dec. 7 vs. Gilmanton non-conference (W 67-61)

Acting as host, Cadott saw Gilmanton come to town, with the first half evenly matched on the board. The Hornets went into the break only down by one point.

“The boys looked a little slow in the first half, but we regrouped at halftime and played some great defense in the second half,” said coach Dusty Burish.

After that, the three-point shots starting falling for Cadott, with nine long range shots knocked down. Along with the bench playing good basketball, the Hornets pulled ahead to take a 67-61 win.

“Braden Schneider, Ethan West and Cameron Messenger combined for a solid 29 points, to help seal the game,” said Burish.

Senior Ryan Sonnentag and junior Tegan Ritter each came up with 11 points, with Ritter notching two long range shots and Sonnentag hitting a three-pointer. The senior West and freshman Schneider each had 9 points, along with a threepointer each.

Sophomore Brodee Burish ended with 8 points, six of those from beyond the arc, followed by the senior Messenger, with 7 points. Sophomore Jordan Peters and freshman Warren Bowe each added 5 points, with each knocking down a three. Sophomore Nolan Blum chipped in with 2 points.

Dec. 11 vs. at Bloomer non-conference (L 63-27)

Digging out from an epic snowstorm that went through the area, Cadott was off to face Bloomer. Offense was slow for the Hornets in the first half, with the Blackhawks taking a 31-13 lead into the break.

The second half repeated the first and Cadott saw the game go to Bloomer, 63-27.

Leading for the Hornets, was B. Burish, with 8 points, who knocked down two shots from beyond the arc, followed by Sonnentag, with 6, also from three-pointers. Blum recorded 3 points, while Schneider, Bowe, Ritter, Peters and West each finished with 2 points.
