Chieftains can’t outmatch the deep-benched Pirates

Kicking off the season, the Lake Holcombe boys basketball program hosted Prentice Nov. 23, in a non-conference match-up. The first half started off well for the Chieftains, with them taking a 32-25 lead into halftime.
Foul trouble would weigh heavily on Lake Holcombe in the second half and the depth of Prentice played a role in the lead changing hands. The Chieftains never gave up, fighting for points, even as the seconds ran out on the score clock.
Despite their valiant efforts, Lake Holcombe conceded the game, 73-53.
Leading for the Chieftains, was senior Dylan Bowen, who connected with six of nine shots from three-point land, ending with 20 points. Senior Brendan Anders also shot well from long range, with three tres and 13 points.
Senior Colton Minnick also knocked down two, three-point shots on the night, with 11 points, followed by senior Sam Ewer, with 5 and junior Harley Schroeder, with 4. Minnick led the team with 7 assists and 3 steals, while Ewer led with 7 rebounds.
