Senior Gavin Tegels made his final year as a Cadott football player count, which was reflected by his accolades handed out in the off-season. During the Hornets’ awards banquet Nov. 4, Tegels found out he was the Dunn-St. Croix Conference Denfensive Player of the Year.

Coach Jeff Goettl said at the end-of-the-season conference coaches meeting, when he put Tegels’ name in for the Player of the Year, the other coaches quickly agreed on the choice and voted for Tegels to get the award.

Goettl praised his senior players, saying that Tegels is very coachable and almost didn’t even need any direction in the games, that he knew right where he needed to be and what he needed to do.
