The final regular season game may have set the tone for the post-season for the Cadott volleyball program, as the Hornets took on Spencer in a Cloverbelt Conference crossover. Hosting the Oct. 12 match-up, Cadott started out the sets in good form, winning the first handily, 25-11.
The next sets were closer, but still went to the Hornets, 25-17 and 25-18.
Junior Lauryn Goettl led with 8 kills, 10 assists, 2 aces and 5 digs, while Elly Eiler ended with 8 kills, 9 assists, 2 aces and 8 digs. Sophomore Emma Kowalczyk recorded 5 kills, and sophomore Makenna Harel had 3 aces and 4 digs.
Cadott will now host the opening Regional game as the No. 8 seed Oct. 19, against No. 9 Nekoosa.
“This was a good confidence builder for the team going into playoffs,” said coach Lynn Schreiner. “We really came together and played a faster defensive game than we have been, which is exciting to see.”
