Runners in short supply for Hornets, with injury/illness

By Ginna Young

Although Cadott’s high school teams were incomplete at a Boyceville Invitational Aug. 25, with illness on the girls side and injury still plaguing the lone boys senior, the Hornets cross country runners still saw good efforts and junior Peter Weir place in the top 15.

Weir came in 11th for the boys, with a time of 18:58.5.

“We discussed and tried a new race strategy that he hasn’t done before, good results,” said coach Tom Weiss.

Freshman Wyatt Wellner came in next, for 62nd place, with a time of 23:03.6, followed by freshman Ewan Weir in 80th place (24:25.5) and sophomore Sage Handrick in 93rd (25:39.6).

On the girls side, sophomore Jaycee Stephens came in 61st (28:00.8), with junior Lucy Lindeman in 82nd place (30:08.2). Freshman Mia Weggen came in 86th (30:26.7) and senior Mallory Kyes ended in 131st place (36:10.7).
