Chiefs see game cut short

In their first game of the season, Cornell’s football program journeyed to Prairie Farm Aug. 26, but the outcome wasn’t what any sports fan would like to see, as lightning stopped the game halfway through.
“The effort was strong and there was no giving up in our boys, we didn’t hang our heads when plays didn’t go our way and got stronger as the game went on,” said coach Craig Braaten. “In fact, we felt that we won the second quarter and were excited to play the second half.”
Prairie Farm scored twice in the first quarter and once in the second, to take a 24-0 lead, and that’s how it would stay, as the game was eventually called.
For Cornell, juniors Avery Turany and Dylan Bowe led on rushing, as well as sophomore Daniel Person. Person also led on passing for the Chiefs. Turany and junior Blake Anders led in receiving yards.
“The boys played hard, we made some mistakes that often occur with younger inexperienced players,” said Braaten. “There is no doubt in my mind that we will make the adjustments needed to see an improvement in play.”
