Hornets leave Beavers stung to advance on
It was a make-or-break game June 14, for the Cadott softball program, as they traveled to Augusta in Regional action. The match-up was close, but the Hornets held on to take the win, 3-2, and move on to the second round of Regionals.
During the victory, junior Makenna Barone took the pitcher’s mound, punching the cards of a team-high 16 batters.
“I have never had anyone strike out that many batters in a game,” said coach Kari Moldrem.
Meanwhile, senior Meadow Barone gunned down another runner trying to steal second and the Hornets putting the ball in play, forced the Beavers to make errors on their home field.
“Our defense stayed ready and strong for when they were needed, to make a play,” said Moldrem.
