Knights top the Panthers, shutout the Red Raiders

 

It was smooth sailing for the Cornell-Lake Holcombe softball program, as they faced off against two conference opponents over the week.

May 18 vs. Prairie Farm conference (W 12-2) Cornell-Lake Holcombe put up 10 runs, to take the shutout win.

Clark again got the win for the Knights, going five innings, only allowing 1 hit and striking out 10 batters.

Senior Michaiah Galster and Harycki led the Knights with 2 hits each, while Clark, Heinzen and Anderson each notched a hit. Harycki finished with 3 RBIs, Helland and Clark added 2 each, and Anderson and Spaeth came up with 1 RBI each.

With the wins over the week, the Knights sit at 9-3 overall and 6-1 in the East Lakeland Conference.

Traveling to Prairie Farm, the Knights got off to a good start, notching a run in the first inning. The Panthers would answer back in the top of the first and in the second inning, but that was it for them offensively.

The Knights added two more runs in the third and fourth innings, before racking on five in the sixth and two in the seventh inning. Cornell-Lake Holcombe walked away with the win, 12-2.

Senior Izzy Clark went seven innings on the mound, giving up 4 hits, 2 runs and 1 walk, while striking out 18. She also led on the offensive side, with 3 hits to her credit, 2 walks and 2 runs batted in (RBI).

Right behind were seniors Alyssa Helland and Kaitlyn Heinzen, and junior Jayda Turchen, with 2 hits each. Junior Teaira Spaeth, and freshmen Brooke Anderson and Makya Heatherington added 1 hit each.

Freshman Grace Harycki ended the night with 1 RBI.

May 20 vs. Bruce conference (W 10-0)
