In spite of some tough competition, the Cornell-Lake Holcombe co-oped track performed well over the week and look to continue to make their name known.

May 4 Gilman Invitational

Traveling to Gilman, the Knights saw a lot of near place finishes, as the boys team finished fifth at the meet, while the girls came in sixth.

Senior Austin Bowe continues to do well for the boys, bringing home third in the 200-meter dash (25:17) and in the triple jump (34-01). Sophomore Blake Anders also placed high, earning third in the 400-meter dash (59.94), while fellow sophomore Avery Turany also finished in third for pole vault (9-00).

Freshman Daniel Person notched a third place seat in the long jump (16-01.5) and Anders claimed fourth in the triple jump (34-00.5). Senior Jack Porter followed that with fifth place in the triple jump (33-03).

On the girls side, junior Brooke Lechleitner ranked second in the 400 dash (1:05.36) and third in the 200 dash (28.70). Freshman Brooke Sime finished seventh in the 100-meter dash (14.78) while freshman Haily Duff ended ninth in the 200 dash (31.37), as did junior Carly Vavra in the discus event (61-09).

Freshman Marcella Boehm completed her night in 10th for the 100 dash (15.37).

Taking home first for the 4x200-meter relay, sophomore Dylan Bowe, Anders, Turany and A. Bowe finished in 1:41.05) The 4x400-meter relay team of D. Bowe, A. Bowe, Person and Anders, placed second on the night (4:03.82).

“It was a good meet for our athletes,” said coach Laurie Bowe.

Battling the cold, the Knights hit the pavement at Bruce, where many of the athletes placed in the top four or higher, with the boys team taking first place honors. The girls team came in fifth at the meet.

On the boys side, Anders took top honors, finishing first in the 800-meter run (2:38.71), second in the 400 dash (1:02.14) and fourth in triple jump (32-01). A. Bowe was also near the top, coming in second in the 100 dash (12.56), and third in the 200 dash (25.88) and triple jump (35-10).

D. Bowe ended in third place for the 400 dash (1:04.09), and pole vault (8-00). Sophomore Dawson Munson placed third in the 800 run (2:51.71), and fourth in the high jump (4-10) and 400 dash (1:05.69).

Lechleitner carried off first place for the girls in the 400 dash (1:08.87), while Sime finished second in the 100 dash (14.69), with Duffy just a step behind for third (15.25).

May 7 Bruce Invitational Vavra ended the night in 10th place for discus (56-06).

The 4x100-meter relay team notched first place, with runners Turany, Person, freshman Jayden Joas-Shaw and D. Bowe, finishing in 52.75. The 4x200 relay also placed first (1:44.09).

The girls weren’t to be outdone, as the 4x100 team of Sime, Boehm, Vavra and Duffy came in first (59.50), and the 4x200 team of Lechleitner, Boehm, Sime and Duffy also ended first (2:04.22).

“Both teams did very well and everyone scored points,” said L. Bowe.
