Wolfpack season ends with Sectional matches

By Ginna Young

The wrestling season came to an end for the Cornell-Lake Holcombe-Gilman Wolfpack Feb. 6, as two of the grapplers traveled to St. Croix Falls for Sectional action.

Coming in as a Regional champion, junior Julian Krizan (170 pounds) hoped to advance to the State competition, but he first had to get by some of the best in the business. Krizan started out in the quarterfinals, by quickly defeating Boyceville’s Kyle Lipke, by fall, in 1:28.

Krizan then took on Logan Rueth, of Stratford, in the semifinals, but couldn’t get the win, with the match going Stratford’s way, by a 5:46 fall. Krizan also was defeated in the consolation semis, by fall from Ladysmith’s Matthew Roach, in 5:15.
