Cadott prevails in dual meet

Cadott was on the road Jan. 16, taking on Regis-Altoona Wrestling (RAW), where the Hornets picked up the dual win, 64-12.

Sophomore Kaleb Sonnentag (126-pounds) got the win and Best Takedown over Thomas Tomesh by a 19-4 technical fall.

“Kaleb wrestled a very aggressive match,” said coach Josh Spaeth. “He looked great on his feet and always worked for the pin.”

Getting the Best Pin, junior Michael Pecha (160) took down Matt Mauer in 54 seconds.

“Michael went after his opponent and got the quick pin,” said Spaeth. “Michael is turning his season around. He is 5 and 1 in his last six matches.”

Junior Nelson Wahl (152) didn’t win his match over Payton Kostka, but earned Best Effort.

“Nelson wrestled Regis-Altoona’s best wrestler,” said Spaeth. “Nelson gave a great effort and lost by one point, in what was the most exciting match of the evening.”

Also winning for the Hornets, was senior Steven Pfeiffer (170) over Caden Weber by a 16-1 technical fall, with sophomore Gavin Tegels (195) winning over Xai Her in .53.

Senior Ethan Tegels (220) won his match over Garret Steffen and fellow senior Josh Briggs (285) came away with the win over Riley Bauer. Winning in the 132-pound level, was freshman Tristan Drier over Aiden Frase, with freshman Cole Pfeiffer (138) bringing home the match over Liam O’Connell.

Receiving forfeit victories, were senior Brady Spaeth (182), and freshmen Nick Fasbender (120) and Dawson Webster (145).

“[The] team still continues to work hard, and we will continue to get better each and every week,” said J. Spaeth.
