Three youth from Clark county were winners in several events at the 2022 State 4-H Horse Expo from Sept. 16-18 in West Allis.

The State 4-H Horse Expo is an annual event for all youth enrolled in the 4-H Horse Program and draws crowds of over 900 youth and 700 horses. Participants can participate in classes such as Horse Judging, Trail, Showmanship, Western Horsemanship, Western Pleasure, Hunter Under Saddle, Hunt Seat Equitation, and Western Riding.

Brooke Magnus, 19, Neillsville, ended her successful youth equestrian career after attending the State 4-H Horse Expo after eight successful years. Brooke is currently a sophomore at UW-Stevens Point and competed in both pony classes, grades 6-13 and grade classes 12-13. She and her pony, Zippos Classic Lad or “Jojo”, were Grand Champions in: Trail (grades 12-13), Western Riding (grades 12-13), and Pony Western Showmanship. Brooke was also the Reserve Champion in Pony Hunt Seat Showmanship and Pony Western Pleasure. They also received a top 10 placing in Pony Western Horsemanship. Brooke is the daughter of Kris Magnus and a member of the Lucky Clovers 4-H club.

Abigail Schoessow, 16, Granton, and her pony RU Ready for This or “Bubba”, were Grand Champions in the Pony Horsemanship and Reserve Champions in Pony Hunt Seat Equitation. They also brought home top 10 placings in Trail (grade 10), Pony Western Pleasure, Pony Hunter Under Saddle and Pony Showmanship. Abby is the daughter of Pastor Dan and Courtney Courtney and is a member of the Romadka 4-H club.

Bria Thomas, 15, Greenwood, and her Grulla yearling Pylate’s Dusty Storm or “Pylat”, earned a top 10 placing in In-Hand Trail, grade 9. Bria is the daughter of Troy and Brenda Thomas and a member of the Rock Creek Rangers 4-H Club in Clark County.

Bria Thomas, Brooke Magnus and Abigail Schoessow brought home ribbons from the Sept. 16-18 State 4-H Horse Expo in West Allis.
