NOTICE Minutes of the Lake Holcombe Board of Education Regular Meeting March 23, 2020 The regular monthly meeting of the Lake Holcombe Board of Education was held virtually Monday evening, March 23, 2020. The meeting was called to order by the board president at 6:03 p.m. The agenda was posted at the Holcombe Post Office, Lake Holcombe School and district Facebook page. SuperiorChoice Credit Union’s lobby was closed because of the Safer at Home order. Brian Guthman, Matt Flater, Jeff Anders, Anneleise Willmarth, Debbi Readinger, Mr. Lindau, Mr. Porter and Ms. Spletter were present.

Motion by Willmarth and seconded by Anders, to approve the regular meeting minutes of 2/17/2020, and special meeting of 3/3/2020, as printed. Motion carried unanimously.

Public comments and correspondence: none Mr. Lindau gave the superintendent’s report. Items included: school psychologist update, arrival of elementary social studies curriculum, elementary teachers reviewing math curriculum, Child Development Day initially scheduled for 4/24/2020, all juniors took the ACT on 3/3/2020, Chippewa County Sheriff’s Department SRO agreement and boiler replacement update.

The annual School Safety Drill was held 3/9/2020. The report was shared with the board.

Mr. Lindau provided a summary of the FFCRA – Families First Coronavirus Response Act – to the board.

Motion by Flater and seconded by Readinger, to approve the 2020-21 CESA Services Contract. Motion carried unanimously.

Motion by Anders and seconded by Willmarth, to approve participation in the 2020-22 wrestling co-op with the Cornell and Gilman School Districts. Motion carried unanimously.

Motion by Readinger and seconded by Anders, to approve the Fall 2020 ECCP requests. Motion carried unanimously.

Motion by Willmarth and seconded by Readinger, to approve the 2020-21 school psychology 66:30 contract with the Winter School District. Motion carried unanimously.

Motion by Readinger and seconded by Willmarth, to approve a waiver of instructional minutes to the DPI. Motion carried unanimously.

Administration updated the board on the building closure plan of limited staffing, deliveries, closed for instruction and no playground use during the emergency orders. The board provided informal approval of the administrative plan.

Motion by Willmarth and seconded by Readinger, to approve the instructional plan of wrapping up third quarter, providing outside Wi-Fi access, ordering hot spots, distributing Chromebooks, collaborating with staff, and obtaining guidance from the DPI and other educational agencies. Motion carried unanimously.

Motion by Readinger and seconded by Anders, to approve the food distribution plan for meals to children in the community during the school closure. Motion carried unanimously.

Motion by Willmarth and seconded by Anders, to approve A, B and D consent items:

• Approval of bills A/P checks 47325-47392, in the amount of $205,080.42, and direct debit/debit card expenses, totaling $2,814.77

• Approve year-to-date revenue and expenditure reports – 2/29/20 YTD revenues - $3,152,080.23 and 2/29/20 YTD expenses - $3,157,290.83

• Accept gifts/donations - $500 from Croix Gear in Hudson to LH Products, $200 from Beverly Gygi, in memory of Josephine Gygi, to the music department and $23.10, from Eastbay’s Dine & Donate, to the band program Motion carried unanimously.

Upcoming meeting date/s: April 27, 2020, at 7 p.m. Note that the meeting is changed to the 4th Monday in April 2020, to coincide with board members taking office.

Meeting assignments: none Future agenda items: none Motion by Anders and seconded by Willmarth, that the meeting be adjourned. Motion carried unanimously and the meeting adjourned at 7 p.m.
