As president of the Edgar School Board, and as a parent and community member, I’m writing to show my support of the operational referendum on the ballot this November. I don’t take this referen...

It doesn’t have to be this way for schools

Our schools are the heart and soul of every rural Wisconsin town. Sadly, most face serious financial struggles, and many residents don’t know why these struggles go on and on. It didn’t have to be this way. Funding for our schools comes from both the state and from local district taxpayers. In 2009 and 2011, state legislative measures resulted in permanent cuts of state money given to distric...

The proposed Hub City Wind Farm in Marathon County presents an opportunity for local landowners to harness the power of the wind for drought-proof revenue in their farming operations. Wisconsin farmers have long been trusted to steward their land and make decisions abou...

Choose candidates who will really lead

Midterm elections are approaching, and political messaging is intensifying — flyers, billboards, social media — as incumbents work to keep their seats and challengers make their case. In the noise, actual content gets lost. Choosing our representatives shouldn't be about vibes or habit. As the world grows more complex, we need leaders humble enough to listen to citizen experts — farmers, ...
