– Time For A Tiara: Column by Ginna Young – - You had me at breakfast all day

– Time For A Tiara: Column by Ginna Young –
A couple months ago, I went to a work convention in Madison, which was fun and I enjoyed seeing some colleagues. I also enjoyed the workshop sessions and the chicken that went with the awards dinner that night, was the best I’ve ever had.
And the hotel – WOW, is all I can say; I’ve never been in such a schmancy place. It was also my first time seeing the Capitol building, we were right next door to it.
I also got to go somewhere I’ve wanted to for quite some time and that was to eat at Cracker Barrel. For years, I’ve heard about their food and how it was thee place to eat, so as we (Joy and I) were leaving Madison, we stopped there.
I’d already looked at the menu online, so I knew what I wanted and ordered pancakes with what must have been fried peaches, because they were carmelized, with blueberry syrup and a side of bacon.
Oh. My. Gosh. Best pancakes I’ve ever had and the bacon was actually bacon, thick, long and cut perfectly, and the whole thing was a large portion, at a reasonable price. It was so good, it’s all I could talk about for the next week, and ever since, it’s all I can think about.
Unfortunately, there’s no Cracker Barrel around these here parts, so a repeat visit is not likely any time soon.
That doesn’t mean I don’t have a plan to make visits to the all-day breakfast place a regular occurrence. I figure, if everyone local who reads this column contacts Cracker Barrel and puts in a request to get one to come to Eau Claire, we can start a movement that will make it happen.
I truthfully think that Eau Claire could support the franchise coming in, it has a huge population and there are enough of us breakfast- all-day enthusiasts to make it worth their while.
If you’ve never eaten at Cracker Barrel and don’t think it’s that big a deal, well, you might want to make a trip there. I recommend the Madison location; it’s a mere three hour and 36-minute drive from here!
