CRASH
On May 28, a vehicle operated by Virginia Etten, 72, of Waukesha, was traveling northbound on Hwy 13 slowing to turn westbound on Elm Ave. in the town of Little Black. According to the crash report, a vehicle operated by Mary Faulkner, 76, of Athens, was traveling northbound on Hwy 13 and did not observe the Etten vehicle slowing to make its westbound turn onto Elm Ave. As the Etten vehicle was making its turn the Faulkner vehicle hit the right rear corner of the Etten vehicle with Faulkner’s front left corner. The Etten vehicle spun around to the east and came to a rest on Elm Ave. facing eastbound. Faulkner traveled through the intersection and came to a rest on Hwy 13 facing northbound. Both vehicles sustained functional damage. Faulkner was issued a citation for inattentive driving. TAYLOR COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE

County reaches middle ground on proposed shooting range site
Participants in the 2025-2026 Leadership Taylor County Class made a presentation to the Medford City Council on Tuesday night. The program is run by The Chamber and introduces emerging leaders in the community to existing civic and commercial leaders. Each year, the class takes on a project. This year they focused on ways to increase people’s awareness of what is going on in the community. They presented the idea of creating an online community calendar for events and activities through The Chamber and its websites.
