Fond Du Lac man, 23, faces child sex crime charges in Taylor County

A Fond Du Lac man currently in jail in Washington County is facing multiple counts of sex crimes involving children in Taylor County On August 28, Zachary P. Nush, 23, of Fond Du Lac, appeared in Taylor County Circuit Court where he waived a reading of the criminal complaint and entered a plea of not guilty.

Judge Ann Knox-Bauer accepted the state’s request and set a $5,000 signature bond with the conditions to comply with booking and have no contact with the now 17-year-old victim.

Nush faces two felony counts from an incident that occurred on March 1 and two felonies and Class A misdemeanor for an incident that occurred on April 13.

Charges include: child enticement - expose genitals/ pubic area/intimate parts; expose child to harmful descriptions; sexual intercourse with a child 16 or older, actor 19 or older - repeater; child enticement - expose genitals/ pubic area/intimate parts - repeater; exposing genitals/pubic area/intimate parts to a child - repeater.

Pretrial conference set for September 30, at 11 a.m. Status hearing set for October 6, at 9:15 a.m.

Alexander Schablow, 29, of Medford pled not guilty to three felony and three misdemeanor counts relating to incidents that occurred on June 21 and June 23. Schablow waived preliminary hearings and entered not guilty pleas for the following charges: strangulation and suffocation domestic abuse; battery - domestic abuse; disorderly conduct - domestic abuse; neglecting a child (specified harm did not occur); intimidate victim/use or attempt force domestic abuse and stalking.

A $50,000 cash bond was continued. Conditions of bond include that the defendant shall not leave the State of Wisconsin without prior notice to and written approval of the court; shall have no contact with the victim or the victim’s children unless ordered by the family court; not possess nor consume any alcohol and not possess any firearms.

Pretrial conference already set for September 11, at 1:15 p.m. and status hearing set for October 6 at 2 p.m.

Found guilty

Sherry Bastian, 55, of Sheldon, was found guilty due to a guilty plea of OWI (1st). Charges of operating with a PAC >=.15 and refusing to take a test for intoxication after arrest were dismissed on prosecutor’s motion. She was ordered to pay $1,145.50, DOT license revoked for 7 months, undergo and alcohol assessment, and have an ignition interlock device installed.

Aaron Brown, 29, of Medford, was found guilty due to a no contest plea of disorderly conduct - domestic abuse and was ordered to pay $679.

Staci Fourtounis, 49, of Medford, was found guilty due to a no contest plea of disorderly conduct - domestic abuse, and was ordered to pay $543.

Ashley Kuper, 32, of Stetsonville, was found guilty due to a no contest plea of disorderly conduct - domestic abuse. Charges of 1st degree recklessly endangering safety - domestic abuse and substantial battery - intend bodily harm (domestic abuse) were dismissed but read in for sentencing purposes. Court ordered a withheld sentence and placed Kuper on probation for two years. Conditions of probation are to pay the court costs, provide a DNA sample and pay the surcharge, undergo alcohol and other drug assessment and follow through with any recommended treatment, undergo a domestic abuse assessment, undergo any other assessment or counseling deemed necessary by the probation agent. Cash bond will be applied toward court costs. Total amount due was $543.

Lucas Schult, 35, of Medford, was found guilty due to a no contest plea of disorderly conduct, amended from battery. Court withheld sentence and placed Schult on probation for one year. Conditions of probation are to pay the court costs, provide a DNA sample and pay the surcharge, complete any assessment that is deemed necessary by the probation agent. Total amount due was $443.

Ashton Wehe, 19, of Medford, was found guilty of OWI (1st). Charges of operating with a restricted controlled substance (1st) and refuse to take test for intoxication after arrest were dismissed on prosecutor’s motion. Court ordered Wehe to pay $986.50, undergo alcohol and other drug assessment and follow through with the driver safety plan, driver's license is revoked for 6 months; have an ignition interlock device installed on any vehicle owned or driven by him for a minimum of 12 months, court did not order the blood draw fee to be repaid. A stipulation also stated that the defendant attend a victim impact panel.

Nathan Zarins, 20, of Curtiss, was found guilty due to a no contest plea of speeding in 55 mph zone (20-24 mph), amended from speeding in 55 mph zone (35-39 mph), and was ordered to pay $225.70.

Dismissed

A charge of fraud against financial institution (value exceeds $500 but does not exceed $10,000) was dismissed on prosecutor’s motion against Sue Freese, 56, of Tomahawk.

Deferred

A deferred prosecution agreement was approved for Isabelle Berens, 17, of Wausau, for speeding in 55 mph zone (11-15 mph).

A deferred prosecution agreement was approved for Paul Capelle, 55, of Gilman, for failure to maintain holding/ septic tanks.
