R EPORTS One vehicle crashes
On August 30, at 1:22 p.m., law enforcement was notified of a one vehicle crash. According to the crash report, a vehicle operated by Joshua Bube, 36, of Medford, was traveling northbound on Hwy 13 in the town of Medford. The vehicle entered the west ditch and continued until it struck a tree coming to rest against the tree. The driver was transported by ambulance to Aspirus Medford Hospital and Clinics with suspected serious injuries. The vehicle was towed due to disabling damage.
On August 25 at 5:27 a.m., a motorcycle operated by John Ploeckelman, 57, of Medford, was traveling southbound on CTH O in the town of Browning. A deer exited the ditch and struck the motorcycle head-on. Ploeckelman was transported by ambulance to Aspirus Medford Hospital and Clinics with suspected serious injuries. The motorcycle sustained minor damage and was towed from the scene.
On August 24, at 3:10 p.m., a vehicle operated by Bryan Herrera-Sanchez, 20, of Owen, was traveling southbound on Oriole Dr. in the town of Browning. The driver lost control and entered the east ditch and continued through the east ditch before driving through a fence and coming to a rest in a cow pasture. The vehicle sustained minor damage. Herrera-Sanchez was cited for operating while under the influence, operating without a valid license, and operating without insurance.
Dog-related crash
On August 21 at around 1:05 a.m., a vehicle operated by Joanna Ortega Rodriguez, 37, of Curtiss, was southbound on Hwy 13 just south of the intersection with Stetsonville Ave. in the town of Little Black. A dog ran onto the roadway from the east ditch. The driver was unable to stop in time, striking the dog. The collision caused minor damage to the vehicle.
Two vehicle crashes
On August 26 at 11:25 a.m., a vehicle operated by Peter Barbella, 72, of Athens, was northbound on Hwy 97 and stopped at a stop sign. A semi-truck and trailer operated by Travis Ziembo, 45, of Medford, was westbound on Hwy 64 and turning onto Hwy 97. According to the crash report, Barbella started to back up when it looked like the semi and trailer was not going to make the turn without striking him. The semi trailer struck the Barbella vehicle in the driver’s side bumper/quarter panel. The Barbella vehicle sustained minor damage.
Cow-related crash
On August 25, at 11:06 a.m., a vehicle operated by Larissa Roiger, 43, of Rib Lake was traveling south on Gibson Dr. in the town of Little Black. According to the crash report, the driver observed some cows loose on the east side of the road near N644 Gibson Dr. The driver slowed down to about 3 to 5 mph and then was struck by a cow that came from the west side of the road. The vehicle had minor damage to the passenger front fender and passenger mirrors. The driver was not injured and there was not any road blockage. Vehicle was driven from the scene. Law enforcement made contact with the cow’s owner, Kevin Paul of Stetsonville.
Deer-related crashes
On August 28, 6:36 a.m., a vehicle operated by Owen Higgins, 18, of Medford, struck a deer while traveling on Castle Rd. in the town of Medford. The vehicle sustained functional damage.
On August 28, at 5:30 a.m., a vehicle operated by Douglas Johnson, 57, of Gilman, struck a deer while westbound on Hwy 64 in the town of Aurora. The vehicle sustained functional damage.
On August 27 at 6:11 p.m., a vehicle operated by Landon Watkins, 22, of Stanley, struck a deer while eastbound on CTH D in the town of Westboro. The vehicle sustained functional damage.
On August 25 at 4:08 a.m., a vehicle operated by Noah Wiitala, 20, of Rib Lake, struck a deer while westbound on Hwy 64 in the town of Medford. The vehicle was towed due to disabling damage.
