First United Presbyterian hosts Summer Good News Club

First United Presbyterian Church of Abbotsford held a Summer Good News Club for community kids the week of July 7 – 11. Throughout the week over 30 kids from the community and area communities attended. Summer Good News Club is a summer five-day club that is completely free to attend.
First United Presbyterian Church partnered with Child Evangelism Fellowship (CEF) which supplied the teachers and the curriculum. First United Presbyterian Church supplied the space, the volunteers and the snacks. Each night included Bible lessons, songs, games, missionary stories, bible memory verses, fun prizes and great snacks. Friday evening, the last day, finished with a pizza and ice cream party.
Child Evangelism Fellowship, which was founded nearly 90 years ago, is an international ministry focused on sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ with children around the world. Their vision is to reach “Every Child, Every Nation, Every Day.” They have a presence in nearly every nation on the globe.
Along with learning Bible stories, songs and memory verses, each night the kids were taught about the mission work of Rose Kirby through CEF in Uganda. Kirby grew up in Iowa but is now a missionary in Uganda. The children were given an opportunity to give toward Rose’s ministry and to help volunteers in Uganda pay for transportation to their ministries. Most of them need just $5 a month to visit a school where they can teach children about Jesus. The kids raised $50 throughout the week, which will provide travel for 10-20 Uganda CEF missionaries for a month.
