Village of Granton appoints Steinbach as new clerk/treasurer Village of Granton appoints Steinbach as new clerk/treasurer

Following the resignation of former clerk/treasurer Joye Eichten, the Village of Granton has appointed a new clerk/treasurer to carry out the duties necessary to manage village affairs. Emily Steinbach will be the new clerk/ treasurer. She started Nov. 27.

Currently, Steinbach is learning the ropes from Eichten, who announced her resignation a few months ago to pursue other interests. Steinbach said she has learned a great deal already in her first week on the job and expects to continue to learn as she settles in.

“Joye has been awesome with teaching me,” she said. “It’s been a good mixture of things that I am familiar with, budgeting, general office work. But there are things that I am learning to do for the first time, like election training. It’s been a mixture.”

Steinbach is originally from the Green Bay area, from the village of Suamico. She graduated from high school in 2009 and went to college at UW-Eau Claire to earn her bachelor’s degree in business administration. After completing her coursework, Steinbach said she began working at Northcentral Technical College where she was the learning coordinator for the School of Health.

“I started at Northcentral Technical College and worked there for 10 years,” she said. “NTC has 10 health programs and I would work behind the scenes to coordinate faculty to teach classes, work on recruitment programs and other duties.”

While working on her career, Steinbach met her husband, David, a native of the Granton area. Up until this year, they continually made trips to the Granton area with their growing family before making the move and settling in Granton earlier this summer.

“We have spent many weekends here, probably coming every other weekend to Granton,” she said. “We’ve been together for 10 years and we’ve been here every other weekend for those 10 years.”

Since she had come to know the Granton community pretty well in her visits over the years, Steinbach said it felt natural to take the next step and make a career change to clerk/treasurer of the village.

“I have really come to love the community and the school district,” she said. “I have two daughters, one in kindergarten and one in daycare. I loved the community and began to look for a job in this area. When this became available, I knew it was a great opportunity to immerse myself into the community, get to know all the people and use my business skills.”

Steinbach said being selected for the role of clerk/treasurer is an honor and she is eager to begin her work and get to know the community and its residents better.

“I’m excited to be the new clerk and I hope to meet everyone eventually,” she said.
