Members of the Medford city pool committee met with pool designers from Water Technology Inc, (WTI) of Beaver Dam Tuesday afternoon to review plans before final bid specifications are drawn up. The city has been working on a major overhaul and upgrade to the city pool since last summer when the committee held hearings and visited other area pools. The project will include the expansion of the existing pool into a fanshaped zero entry area, the addition of water jets and play structures, a large slide at mid-pool along with a climbing wall on the deep end for use by older youth and adults.

Responding to Sheriff Bill Breneman’s plea for more help in his overcrowded jail, the Taylor County Board’s Law Enforcement Committee somewhat grudgingly approved hiring a jail administrator last week. If the sites are picked and approved by the state, construction by private owners is expected to get underway as soon as weather permits.

Gordon Kuse, weatherman, reports that eight inches of snow fell during the storm. W. C. Miller, county highway commissioner, sent out 11 big plows and six graders Friday afternoon but that evening they had to be called off the roads as the storm was too severe to combat.

The Odd Fellows have occupied the second floor of the building and the city has used the first floor. Under the new arrangement the city will be able to make sure of the unoccupied part of the lot for sheds for fire fighting equipment and will be able to remodel the main building for the city’s use.

Carl Lipke was hit by a falling limb under the right eye last Wednesday. The blow was a severe one, cutting an ugly gash in the cheek. He was at work in C.B. Powell’s camp. Dr. Nystrum was called and repaired the damaged parts in a scientific and satisfactory manner, and Carl will soon be alright again.
