R eports Two vehicle crashes
A vehicle driven by Eric Chaillier, 32, of Medford was traveling southbound on Grahl Dr. at 7:54 a.m. on January 31 while Arely Polendo, 25, of Medford was waiting at the stop sign with two young passengers in the back seat. Chaillier was unable to stop due to the icy road conditions and made contact with the rear of Polendo’s vehicle. Polendo’s vehicle sustained minor damage to the rear of the vehicle while Chaillier’s vehicle sustained minor damage to the front of the vehicle.
A UTV driven by Wade Haynes, 59, of Medford was turning south into a private driveway from the westbound lane of Center Ave. at 2:18 p.m. on January 30 when Haynes looked but did not see the vehicle of Le Roy Zittlow, 74, of Medford which was traveling eastbound on Center Ave. Haynes struck Zittlow’s vehicle on the driver front side. Zittlow entered the south ditch upright facing east. Haynes’ vehicle sustained minor damage to the front while Zittlow’s vehicle sustained functional damage to the right and left front corner and side.
A vehicle owned by Sara Filas was driven by Cassandra Filas, 16, of Medford was stopped at the intersection of CTH Q and Cedar St. facing west. Another vehicle owned by Craig Kawa driven by Logan Kawa, 17, of Owen was traveling southbound on CTH Q just north of Cedar St. at 3:49 p.m. on January 27. Filas did not see Kawa and drove west through the intersection. Kawa was unable to stop striking Filas. Kawa’s vehicle sustained disabling damage to the front right and left corners and sides of the vehicle while Filas’s vehicle sustained disabling damage to all areas of the vehicle. Filas was issued a citation for failing to yield the right of way.
A vehicle driven by John Zawadzki, 50, of Phillips with passenger Bonnie Zawadzki, 43, of Phillips was going southbound on STH 13 on January 27 at 1:46 p.m. when Zawadzki struck a patch of ice and lost control. Zawadzki’s vehicle slid into the west ditch and rolled over when it struck the culvert to a driveway, coming to a rest just south of the driveway at N6205 Hwy 13. Mrs. Zawadzki complained of head and neck pain and was medically transported from the scene. Zawadzki’s vehicle sustained disabling damage to all areas.
One vehicle crashes
A vehicle owned by Robert Simandl Jr. was driven by Ethan Bystrom, 25, of Ellsworth. Bystrom was going northbound on county road C with a passenger at 10:40 p.m. on January 31 when Bystrom advised that a tire blew on the vehicle and veered him off into the east ditch. The vehicle sustained functional damage to the rear.
A vehicle driven by Kelly Jochimsen, 33, of Westboro was driving westbound on CTH M near Castle Rd. at 9:45 p.m. on January 30. Jochimsen entered the north ditch and struck a utility pole which caused disabling damage to the front of the vehicle. Jochimsen was issued a citation for inattentive driving.
A vehicle owned and driven by Hollyann Grube, 18, of Owen was northbound on STH 64 at 7:40 a.m. on January 27, approaching the right hand curve by Division Dr. when Grube lost control of the vehicle due to the icy road. Grube was attempting to slow down while approaching the curve. The vehicle slid sideways into the west ditch, striking a sign post and then rolling onto the passenger side. Grube complained of hip pain but refused medical attention. Grube’s vehicle sustained minor damage to the left front side and was towed from the scene.
A vehicle driven by Carole Rychtik, 22, of Medford was traveling westbound on W. Broadway on February 2 at 3:33 p.m. in the middle lane with two young passengers in the second row. A school bus was in the outside lane preparing to turn right. A vehicle owned by Benjamin Breezee was being driven by Serena Breezee, 16, of Medford and was facing south in the driveway of 1015 Broadway Ave. preparing to turn eastbound onto Broadway. Breezee did not see Rychtik in the middle lane and pulled out to turn left. Rychtik’s vehicle struck Breezee’s vehicle causing Rychtik to subsequently veer off the road and come to a rest in the south ditch of W. Broadway. Rychtik’s vehicle sustained disabling damage to the front right side and corner, while Breezee’s sustained disabling damage to the front and front right corner and side. Breezee was issued a citation for failure to yield the right of way. Rychtik was issued a citation for operating a motor vehicle without insurance.
Parking lot crash
A vehicle owned by Dennis Bukovcan, 60, of Rib Lake was stationary in a parking space at 4:48 p.m. on January 29, and was attempting to back out of the space, when Bukovcan left his foot off the brake slightly causing the vehicle to to roll forward. Bukovcan then came in contact with a vehicle owned by Amanda Troiber of Rib Lake which was legally parked on the opposite side of the parking spaces and to the left of Bukovcan’s vehicle, which resulted in functional damage and scratches to the rear of Troiber’s driver side door all the way to the left rear of Troiber’s driver side corner. Bukovcan’s vehicle sustained minor damage to its left front side.
Deer related Crashes
A vehicle driven by Mary Hershberger, 30, of Cameron was southbound on STH 73 at 7:45 a.m. on February 4, in the town of Taft when Hershberger hit a deer causing functional damage to the front left corner and side of the vehicle.
