Medford man charged in Nov. 14 fatal crash near Dorchester

A 32-year-old Medford man has been charged with three felonies and a misdemeanor for driving without a license when he was involved in a Nov. 14 fatal traffic crash near Dorchester in the town of Mayville.

Patrick G. Davis was arrested and charged on Nov. 18 in Clark County Circuit Court. Charges include one count of knowingly operating a vehicle while revoked/ causing death, two counts of knowingly operating while revoked/causing injury, and one count of bail jumping.

Davis was the driver of a northbound vehicle on Highway 13 just after 3 p.m. on Nov. 14. As he was passing a tractor towing a manure tanker, he lost control of his vehicle on a bridge, entered the ditch and struck a driveway, which caused the vehicle to crash into a tree.

A passenger in the Davis vehicle, 25-year-old Tracy Anderson of Medford, died at the scene. Injured in the crash were passengers Susan M. Sherwood, 25, and Serapio V. Terrones III, 41.

Investigators found that Davis was operating the vehicle although his license had been revoked following a 2018 conviction in Price County for operating a vehicle while intoxicated. He told officers upon his arrest that he knew his license was revoked and he should not have been driving.

Davis was also charged on Oct. 13 with operating a vehicle while revoked in Taylor County. Terms of his bond specifically state he is not to operate a vehicle. He has a Dec. 29 court date on that charge.

Officers at the crash scene found a pipe containing a green leafy material that looked like marijuana, according to the criminal complaint. They also found several small bottles labeled as “100 proof” alcohol. Davis told police he had not been smoking or drinking, and that one of the other passengers had been consuming the alcohol. A preliminary breath test was administered on the scene and it indicated that Davis had not consumed alcohol, according to the complaint.

Davis is to make an initial appearance in Clark County Circuit Court on Dec. 13.
