In the House of Representatives, local voters favored Rep. Tom Tiffany 6,555 votes to Richard Ausman’s 2,109 votes a margin that carried through across the sprawling 7th congressional district with Tiffany wining 61.9% to 38.1%.
In other statewide races, Attorney General Josh Kaul was the leader statewide as of press time about 30,000 votes ahead of challenger Eric Toney. He leads in that race 50.5% to 49.5%. Among local voters, the margin was tipped heavily in Toney’s favor with county voters favoring him 6,177 to 2,460.
For Secretary of State, incumbent Doug LaFollette leads statewide 48.2% to Amy Loudenbeck with 48.1% of votes cast, less that 2,000 votes separate the candidates. That race has not been called as of press time. On the local level, again, the margin heavily in favor of the Republican challenger with Loudenbeck receiving 6,150 votes to LaFollette’s 2,190 votes.
For State Treasurer, at the state level John Leiber is leading Aaron Richardson 49.8% to 48% with about 45,000 votes separating the two candidates. Locally, Leiber received 6,137 votes to Richardson’s 2,097 votes.
Referendums
Three towns had referendum questions on the ballots.
In Maplehurst voters approved making the town clerk an appointed position by a vote of 119 to 28.
In Hammel, voters approved making the town clerk and treasurer appointed positions by a vote of 213 to 150.
In Roosevelt, voters approved making the town clerk and treasurer appointed positions by a vote of 81 to 73.
