In District 7, which includes parts of the town of Hammel and the town of Medford, incumbent Gene Knoll is facing a challenge from Lori Kohn Floyd.

Running unopposed are Lisa Carbaugh (district 1), Mike Bub (district 4), Jim Metz (district 5), Scott Mildbrand (district 6), Chuck Zenner (district 8), Diane Albrecht (district 9), Catherine Lemke (district 10), James Gebauer (district 11), Rollie Thums (district 12), Lester Lewis (district 13), Myron Brooks (district 14), Ray Soper (district 16) and Rod Adams (district 17).

School boards

There will be at least one new face on the Medford Area Public School Board this spring as incumbent Paul Dixon has filed non candidacy papers and will not seek reelection.

Incumbents Aemus Balsis and Cheryl Wibben are running for reelection and will be challenged by Corey Dassow, Kurt Werner and Fred Ebert. Voters will select three of the candidates to fill positions on the board. Balsis had been elected last spring to fill a partial term and is running now for a full three-year term.

In the Rib Lake School District incumbents Amanda Treffinger (town of Greenwood) is facing a challenge from Mitch Peters. Rollie Thums (at-large) is running unopposed.

In Gilman School District incumbents Jessica Wisocky, Gina Timm and Cheryl Ustianowski are seeking reelection.

Medford city council

There will be one new face on the Medford city council this spring as Erica Petersen filed to run for the position currently held by Hansen. Hansen is not seeking reelection.

Incumbent aldermen Dave Brandner (wards 1 and 2), Christine Weix (Wards 5 and 6) and Clem Johnson (wards 7 and 8) are running unopposed for reelection.

Village boards

Megan Jonasen has filed nomination papers running for one of the three seats up for reelection on the Rib Lake Village Board. Incumbents Jack Buksa, Cliff Mann and Vernell Van Hecker have also filed for candidacy. Voters will select three of the candidates to fill positions this spring.

In the village of Stetsonville, incumbent trustees Joseph Dowden and Will McCarron are up for reelection. A caucus will be held to determine who is on the ballot.

In the village of Gilman, a caucus will be held on January 12 at 6:30 p.m. to select candidates. Up for reelection are Ericka Bertsinger, Cheryl Rosemeyer and Lisa Anderson.

Board members and staff of Taylor County Supportive Housing recently accepted several large donations to the Taylor House homeless shelter project. Ben Koch presented a $3,000 donation to the organization’s efforts on behalf of him and his wife, Amy.
