Taylor County Market Animal Show & Sale set for July 25

Premier Livestock in Withee to host 39th annual event Despite the cancellation of the 2020 Taylor County Fair, the Taylor County Market Animal Show and Sale (MASS) is moving ahead.

The MASS Committee was encouraged by the youth participants, past buyers and partners in the livestock industry to find a way for youth to complete their market animal projects this year. Premier Livestock has been safely hosting livestock auctions throughout the pandemic and stepped forward to make that possible.

This 39th Annual Taylor County Market Animal Show & Sale will be Saturday, July 25, at Premier Livestock, N13438 State Highway 73, Withee. Showmanship competitions and market animal classes will take place in the morning and early afternoon; only youth participants and their immediate family members assisting them will attend the show portion.

The sale will begin at 6 p.m. and expects to feature 30-40 high quality, youth-raised market pigs, lambs and steers. Bidders may attend in-person or bid online through Premier Livestock’s partnership with Cattle USA. Bidders who attend in-person are asked to maintain social distancing.

While local businesses are often the buyers of these market animals, individuals are welcome to bid and buy as well. MASS participants would like to invite all members in the community looking to fill their freezers with fresh, locally raised beef, pork and lamb to bid.

All animals will be processed and cut to order by Pinter’s Packing Plant in Dorchester. Pinter’s has been a partner in the MASS program for many years. The MASS Committee appreciates their commitment to provide processing for the youth’s animals in a year with incredible demand for their services.
