Huey’s Hideway Children’s Museum experience auction is July 30

Huey’s Hideway Children’s Museum will hold its 10th Annual Experience Auction on Wednesday, July 30.
According to director Monica Spinler, the event will be held at Huey’s Hideaway Children’s Museum located on Main Street in downtown Medford. Doors open at 5 p.m. and the auction beings at 6 p.m.
The fun will begin the week prior to the live auction with an online silent auction that will run the week before the Experience Auction day. On the day of the auction, there will be food and a cash bar at the museum. Spinler noted they are excited to have special desserts being served that are tailored to it being the 10th Annual Experience Auction.
In addition to the food, beverages and live auction, those attending the event can participate in wine and whiskey pulls and meat raffles and a bucket raffle.
The Experience Auction is a major fundraiser for Huey’s Hideaway. Money raised from the event helps with summer camp scholarships, daily access and for the museum to add new exhibits.
It is the nature of children’s museums that exhibits are changed out or renovated on a regular basis. Spinler said they had four to six new exhibits each year.
At the heart of the Experience Auction are the experiences themselves. Spinler said she is especially excited about this year’s auction because in addition to favorites from past years, almost one third of auction items are brand new and haven’t been auctioned off before.
“This is our biggest fundraiser of the year,” Spinler said, noting that their second major fundraiser, the Glowball Gold Tournament is held in September.
Spinler said one of the features in this year’s event is the drawing for a golden ticket. She said if your golden ticket is picked, you can select something from the live auction as your prize.
She said the intent of this is to make it a fun time for everyone to come out and support Huey’s Hideaway even if you are not able to participate when the bidding gets high.
“We are really excited for our 10th auction,” Spinler said, noting that while the museum has been open for eight years it was held as a fundraiser to get the doors open.
