Free COVID-19 testing in Prentice with National Guard assistance

The National Guard will be providing drive through style COVID-19 nasal swab testing in Prentice this weekend.

There are two goals with this event. 1) Provide communities with mass testing and allow local healthcare providers more time to increase their testing capacity. 2) Give Public Health better insight into how widespread COVID-19 is in our communities. Following this event, we will continue to work closely with our local healthcare providers to continue building their capacity to meet patient demand.

The testing will be held at the Prentice DNR Ranger Station at W5327 Granberg Road in Prentice on Sunday, May 17, 2020 from 11 a.m. – 7 p.m.

This event is only available to Wisconsin residents who are five years of age and older with at least one of the following symptoms: fever, cough, shortness of breath, body or muscle aches, sore throat, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, loss of smell, loss of taste, headache or fatigue.

Due to the unknown amount of interest, prepare for potential wait time. You will be instructed to form a line and remain in, or on, your mode of transportation during the entire event. Please be aware that if testing kits run out prior to the end of the event, you may be turned away. The National Guard will be collecting the nasal swab during this event. They will be in uniform and in full personal protective equipment such as gowns, mask, gloves and respirators.

Following testing, people should return straight home. Please follow the full instructions that will be given to you at the testing event. Test results will be provided via phone by the National Guard or Price County Public Health in a timely manner.

If there are questions about the event, please call Price County Public Health at 715-339-3054, 2-1-1, or 877-947-2211 for non-Wisconsin area codes.
