Town of Beaver crash leads to injuries
A semi truck and feed truck collided at the intersection of county highways K and P about 7 miles north of Loyal at noon on Friday. The semi truck driver, a 30-year-old Spencer man, was headed north on K. The driver of the feed truck, a 26-year-old Abbotsford woman, was headed south on P and went to turn east onto K, turning in front of the semi truck. The male driver said he tried to stop but was unable to do so in time. The semi collided the passenger side of the cab of the feed truck, and both came to rest in the northeast ditch. The female driver was transported by ambulance to Marshfield Medical Center with suspected serious injuries. The male driver was not transported and spoke with law enforcement after the crash, but was later taken to Marshfield to get a bump on his head checked.
According to the crash report from the sheriff’s office, the female driver stated she had been talking with her boyfriend on a hands-free device while traveling. She said she did not remember seeing any vehicle coming towards her until she started turning, and she noticed while making the turn.
The Loyal Ambulance Service, Loyal Fire Department, and Clark County Sheriff’s Office responded to the crash. The intersection was closed from 12:11 p.m. until 2:16 p.m.
