Neillsville PD warns of email scam

The Neillsville Police Department has been made aware that individuals in the nearby area are receiving fraudulent emails from someone impersonating a public relations representative affiliated with the Neillsville Chamber of Commerce. These emails often request payment or invite recipients to join an email list.

“Please be advised: These messages are NOT legitimate. The Neillsville Chamber communicates only through one official email address. If you receive any unsolicited email claiming to be from the Chamber that seems suspicious, especially those asking for money or personal information, do not respond, click any links, or provide any details,” Police Chief Jim Mankowski wrote in a May 29 press release.

He also recommended the following actions:

•Do not engage with the sender.

•Report the email to the Neillsville Police Department.

•Delete the message after reporting. “We are actively investigating these reports and take
